Public Art Project Trompe L’oeil

A call for artists, Craft Table in Cumberland Maryland is in search of artist, artist organization and art educators to partner with for the creation of 6 individual Trompe L’oeil windows in a visible area of downtown Cumberland, Maryland.

Cumberland, MD. The first unveiling of a Trompe L’oeil public art project between local business Craft Table and community artists will take place on August 25th at 11AM along Merchants Alley behind 11 South Liberty Street.

Craft Table owner Chris Myers and Carol Davis invited local artist, artist organization and art educators to partner with for the creation of six individual Trompe L’oeil windows in downtown Cumberland. Artists willing to accept input and be sensitive to the historical nature of the community to transform our building into a whimsical Trompe L’oeil for the public to enjoy. Artist submitted a brief resume, RFP to include a cost proposal and a work sample. A local community panel selected the individual winners.

This way when the shops along Baltimore St must suspend their front-end operations, we can continue to serve the public along Merchants Alley and have a more pleasant space for seating and shopping.

Unveiling of two pieces of artwork by artist Elijah Thane, b.1995, is an American Contemporary Artist and Designer from Cumberland, Maryland.
